Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find a sample of Frequently Asked Questions from clients
who are considering Endermologie to help them.
Cellulite is caused by a combination of factors that include poor lifestyle choices most especially bad diet and lack of exercise, tight clothing, hormonal conditions which can slow down metabolism and render blood circulation inefficient, and heredity. It is estimated that 90% to 95% of women experience cellulite at some point in their lives. Some men also have cellulite but not as much as women.
Cellulite appears because of fat trapped by tough skin fibers just beneath the epidermis. The skin fibers pull down while the fat cells push against the skin. As more fat accumulates, the pushing and pulling worsens.
Cellulite is a term for the formation of lumps and dimples in the skin. Common names for cellulite are orange-peel skin, cottage-cheese skin, hail damage, and the mattress phenomenon. Cellulite can affect both men and women, but it is more common in females, due to the different distributions of fat, muscle, and connective tissue.
Endermologie® is a patented technique involving a mechanized device with two motorized rollers and regulated suction. This non-surgical and non-invasive device creates a symmetrical skin fold, which allows for deep tissue mobilization to occur and results in reduction of cellulite and loss of inches. Endermologie® was the first medical treatment to be FDA approved for cellulite reduction and loss of body circumference.
Endermologie is natural and effective, and targets the connective tissues of the body and face.
No. Endermologie and Liposuction tackle two very different types of fats. Endermologie is useful for cellulite reduction, and body contouring to help improve your appearance. Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves risk and complications. It does not help with cellulite, but instead works on the deep fat layers to reduce body measurements. Endermologie, unlike liposuction, does not involve breaking through the skin in any way. Some people try Endermologie first and then choose to wait to receive liposuction. We frequently recommend Endermologie in addition to liposuction to get a better and smoother result from liposuction.
It is not a weight loss machine and/or program. However, many clients report being able to lose weight, especially fat weight, more easily while using the machine than they ever could before. You will most likely notice an improvement in skin tone after using the machine. Research has shown that the appearance of stretch marks and loose skin may be greatly improved.
It is highly recommended that you add diet and exercise to the routine you follow while undergoing Endermologie treatments. In most cases, diet and exercise will improve your results. Try to exercise at least 3 times per week 30 minutes for optimal results and better health.
One of the first things you will notice is that your clothes fit looser, your legs and hips feel smoother, and you may experience an increased sense of well-being. You will next notice a definite improvement in skin condition, especially in dimpled cellulite areas. Although the LPG cellulite technique is not a weight loss treatment, you could see a reduction in the circumference of the treated area. Clothes are an excellent way of noticing any changes in the body.
Because Endermologie is non-invasive and involves the use of specialized equipment using the unique Mécano-Stimulation™ technique, it helps reduce swollen tissue and the appearance of cellulite. These soothing treatments also help reduce lymphedema, speed up recovery time and can help bring a healthy glow to the skin, further enhancing the liposuction results. It is recommend to start Endermologie treatments several weeks pre surgery with a minimum of 6 sessions. While every patient’s post-surgical needs are unique, Endermologie treatments often begin several weeks following the surgical procedure with a minimum of 12 sessions.
Ultrasonic cavitation, also called ultrasonic lipolysis, is a body contouring treatment that is used to remove fat deposits under your skin. The treatment uses ultrasonic radio waves to break apart fat cells, which are then absorbed into your body by your lymphatic system.
Ultrasonic cavitation is different than other similar treatments, like ultrasound liposuction, because it doesn’t require any incisions. This means recovery is easier. It also means that results might be less noticeable.
The ideal candidate for ultrasonic cavitation:
- Is good overall health
- doesn’t smoke
- has realistic expectations
- is already within 15 pounds of their goal weight
Ultrasonic cavitation is meant to target small areas of fat and help contour your body. It isn’t a treatment for people who are trying to lose a lot of weight.
The procedure for ultrasonic cavitation is pretty straightforward.
You may feel a warm sensation during the procedure and hear a buzzing from the ultrasound machine. Treatments typically take between 30 minutes.
Ultrasonic cavitation is considered a low-risk treatment for most people. Common side effects include:
In some cases, the skin won’t absorb the fat evenly after it breaks down. Lumps, bumps, and valleys on your skin can appear after ultrasonic cavitation treatment. These skin irregularities may be resolved by followup treatments.
To prepare for your appointment, your provider will give you detailed instructions, which you should follow carefully.
Make sure that you disclose the following to your provider before your appointment:
- any medical conditions you have
- any herbal supplements you take
- any medication that you’ve been prescribed
Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 48 hours before your appointment.
You may also be advised to avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, in the 2 weeks leading up to your procedure.
Drink plenty of water before and after your treatment so that your body can flush out fat deposits quickly.
Ultrasound Cavitation uses scientifically proven non-invasive technology (low-frequency sound waves) to break down unwanted fat whilst the radio frequency is a non-invasive heat treatment that helps tighten, contour and refine deeper lines of the skin over the face and body.
Endermologie does not hurt at all. It is like a deep massage and is very relaxing. Most women find it quite pleasant. The intensity of the treatment can be individually adjusted to your comfort level.
No. There is NO down time. You walk out of the center as you arrived only more relaxed. Yes, there are virtually no side effects. On occasion some mild bruising is possible.
While Endermologie was first developed to treat burn scars, the benefits of Body Endermologie treatment include other health benefits such as treatment for back pain, muscle injuries and cellulite reduction. Endermologie reduces the appearance of cellulite, increases blood circulation, boosts fat release, and increases lymphatic flow. Face Endermologie helps increase collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid for skin fitness. This effective treatment is relaxing, comfortable and is non-invasive.
The technician will perform an evaluation but generally, pregnant women and individuals who take blood thinning medications (particularly those with hypertension) are not allowed to undergo Endermologie treatments.
The average client starts to notice changes around their 6th or 8th session. Most people see a major change in their appearance around the 16th session. This will vary from patient to patient. During your consultation, the technician will be able to determine approximately how many treatments you will need based on the evaluation.
Some clients may need additional treatments depending upon the severity of their cellulite, their weight, and lifestyle habits. On average you can expect anywhere from 16-24 sessions depending on the condition of your skin.
You should have Endermologie treatments 2 to 3 sessions per week. Minimum 2 per week. Treatments normally last about 35 minutes. However, there are Express sessions that are 15 minutes for people who are short on time. Your technician will focus on your problem areas.
Recent study shows that results can last up to 6 months. However, this depends on age, lifestyle, and hormonal changes. Maintenance sessions are recommended at least once a month after finishing the first course of treatment, in order to obtain optimal results.
The best way to hold cellulite to a minimum while keeping your body fit is usually a matter of common sense. Here are a few suggestions on how to help you feel your best while your Endermologie® treatments help you look your best:
DRINK WATER -Water flushes toxins from your body and improves blood flow. Drink half of your weight in ounces. Example, if you weigh 150 lbs then you will need to drink 75 ounces.
EAT GREEN -Salt, sugar and processed foods enlarge the fat cells present in everyone’s bodies. While no one expects you to live on rabbit food, adding several servings of fresh fruit and vegetables to your daily diet will provide you with additional vitamins and nutrients. Stay away from sugar and fried foods.
EXERCISE -Most people know the important benefits of exercising on a regular basis, but often have unrealistic expectations. Don’t get frustrated if you don’t see immediate results. Stick with it and you’ll have more energy, lose weight, tone your muscles and sleep better. Toned muscles help to smooth the skin.
STOP SMOKING -If you smoke, give it a rest. It’s not doing your skin or that cellulite any favors. Smoking not only affects the texture and tone of your skin, it constricts blood vessels, which contributes to the appearance of cellulite.
Ultrasonic cavitation relies on ultrasound technology to break apart fat cells.
Ultrasound waves are sent deep into the layers of your skin, causing a disruptive vibration. Fat cells then break apart from each other and are dislodged from your dermal layers.
After a few days, the fat cells are absorbed by your lymphatic system and drained as waste from your body.
This treatment is most effective at reducing fat in “fibrotic” places in your body, which include the back and chest area.
Ultrasonic cavitation is also frequently performed on the:
- upper arms
- thigh areas
After ultrasonic cavitation, you should be able to stand up and drive yourself home.
Pain and bruising are usually minimal. Hydrate as much as possible after the procedure to help your body flush the fatty cells through your lymphatic system.
Don’t expect to see results right away. Right after your appointment, your body might feel puffy or swollen. It takes time for your body to break down and dissolve the fat cells that have been dislodged.
You will require repeated treatments to see visible results. Most candidates for this treatment see their final result within 6-12 sessions. On average, treatment requires 1 to 3 visits for visible results. Treatments can be done 72 hours or 3 days apart so twice per week.
Results of this treatment are permanent, as long as you maintain a healthy diet and exercise. If you have a sedentary lifestyle, fat deposits may return to areas that have been treated.
The results may vary with different tissue structures, treatment area(s), age, metabolism, and hormonal changes. Proper diet and increased physical activity will certainly improve and help maintain the results. Results are not guaranteed.
